Services            Project Management, Site Supervision

Description       Providing the Client with consultancy services within the framework of the Resident Engineer's responsibilities and duties delegated by the Employer in accordance with FIDIC Red Book. As a part of construction management division assisting in client and contractor interactions including, but not limited to addressing the contractual matters, engineering supervision, contractor's work review, input on QA/QC and HSSE matters and procedures. 


Main works comprised of:

  • Dredging
  • Reclamation of 3ha of land
  • Site clearing and demolition
  • Construction of a 155m long and 40m wide piled concrete wharf
  • Widening of 250m section of wharf by 20m
  • Construction of a mooring dolphin and walkway
  • Excavation/construction of a container yard
  • A new gate complex
  • Upgrade of the rail capacity
  • Modifications and extensions of the existing electrical infrastructure


The project provided a second deep-water berth, four additional gantry cranes and land reclamation to expand the container yard. On-dock rail track length was also expanded through densification of the current track configuration supported by a rubber-tyred gantry crane operation. The terminal was officially opened on 29 August 2017.

Description       SPI Consultancy was engaged in preparation of technical part of the Employer’s Requirements on the basis of preliminary specifications received from the Client for the Warehouse and Infrastructure Development works in Logistics Park.

The scope of works carried out included preparation of the Employer’s Requirements for the design and construction of the civil infrastructure works and warehouse including:


  • Site clearing and grading
  • Earthworks
  • Erosion and sediment control
  • Pavement works
  • Warehouse
  • Utilities and landscaping

Ecuador

Description        Providing the Client with consultancy services within the framework of the Resident Engineer's responsibilities and duties delegated by the Employer in accordance with FIDIC Design/Build Contract. As a part of construction management division assisting in overall management of the project, chairing all the meetings, client liaison, overview of HSSE controls and requirements as well as overall supervision and management of the site team .

Main works comprised of:

  • Construction of dikes along the seaside borders of the Site 
  • Realigned access channel dredging works and subsequent reclamation of the Site area 
  • Over 1km of rock revetment 
  • Construction of 400m quay including quay furniture and services 
  • Earthworks to allow the development of the terminal yard 
  • Heavy-duty pavements 
  • Terminal services and utilities 
  • Terminal buildings and associated civil works 


The project provided a first deepwater port in Posorja and is the most important Port of the West Coast of the South Pacific. It will place Ecuador along with the port growth that is developing in the region and the world, enhancing the country’s competitiveness with world trade.
